Okra Yoga School Offers 200-Hour Teacher Training

Whether to pursue a career in yoga or delve deeper into the practice of yoga as a student and practitioner, the 200-hour, Yoga Alliance-registered teacher training program provided by the Okra Yoga School in Charlotte, will support one’s needs. The classes will kickoff from 5:30 to 9 p.m., January 19, and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on January 20 and 21, and continue during the same times February 9 to 11, March 2 to 4 and 23 to 25, April 13 to 15, and May 4 to 6 and 25 to 27.

The curriculum does not focus on one style of yoga as it provides experience in many different modalities so that participants may find their own voice and teach what authentically represents their path. It both prepares one to teach yoga and also helps foster becoming a lifelong student of yoga.

In the Okra program, attendees will start teaching the first week. The staff centers the program on practicums for practicing teaching and giving personal feedback and also from fellow trainees. Participants are required to attend 10 classes. Besides postures, students will learn yoga history, philosophy, pranayamas, meditation, chanting, physical anatomy as related to asana, ethics, lifestyles, and the business of being a yogi. Several guest teachers will be invited during the program to share their expertise. Students who complete the training are eligible to register as RYT 200s.

Cost: $2,400 by Dec 15, $2,600 by Jan 19, payment plan available. Location: 1912 Commonwealth Ave. For more information or to register, call 704-266-1443, email [email protected] or visit OkraCharlotte.com.
