We have all been presented with different challenges in the light of COVID-19 for the last few months. However, it is how we CHOOSE to respond and react to these new situations which makes all the difference in our lives.
Many of us on this planet often “forget” or are unaware that we are extremely powerful beings. Within each of us we harness the innate ability to control our moods and energy. We have the ability to HEAL ourselves and find the joy in life if we so choose.
Our bodies were intelligently and beautifully designed to thrive. Problems begin to arise when different stressors are introduced into the body. These can be physical, chemical, or emotional.
Despite the stresses we are exposed to on a daily basis we must remember that we are all born with the ability to CHOOSE how we LIVE our lives. And as crazy as it may sound, all of the answers to be happy and enjoy life lie within you waiting to be released.
To quote Dr. Joe Dispenza “Your personality creates your personal reality. Your personality consists of how you think, act, and feel. On a day to day basis 80-90% of people’s thoughts stay the same.” This is what Dr. Dispenza refers to as the “familiar past”. So if you wake up each day and experience the same thoughts and do the same things you create something called neural plasticity. As a result, you will remain the same. Neural plasticity can be a good or a bad thing.
It is so important to be aware of your thoughts because you attract what you think about most of the time. In the world of quantum physics, everything in the universe is made of energy, whether it is a tree, an organ in your body, or yes, even your thoughts. This may be a new concept for some so here is an analogy that will help: think of your brain as a radio, it is broadcasting and receiving different frequencies that are in your environment. Have you ever walked into a room and gotten a good or a bad vibe from a person? That is an example of you picking up on their energy. And people will experience the same thing about you.
Every thought you think is sending out a different frequency into the universe. Therefore, the thoughts we think will essentially become our reality. This principle is referred to as the Law of Attraction: like attracts like. Every frequency (thought) you are emitting is what you will receive in return. This is why it is so important to stay positive, learn new things, and have new experiences. This will create new neural connections and pathways rather than being stuck in the past in which you are firing the same loop day in and day out.
For example, if you wake up and the first thing you think about is going to a job you cannot stand or look at your phone and all the emails you have to answer you are starting your day in a state of stress and emitting low frequency emotions such as dread, grief, anger, or despair. Many of us are controlled by the limiting beliefs we have developed throughout life. These beliefs may be undermining your confidence in your abilities and holding you back… Phrases such as: I am not good enough, I don’t deserve this, I can’t do that… The good news is beliefs are thoughts that you think over and over again…
This is why it is so important for us to think and be positive most of the time. We must be realistic though. Many of us do not realize how negatively we think or how to reframe our thoughts to be more positive. Many of us picked up habits from or parents or from growing up in a society that has many negative undertones. But there is hope! If you change your thoughts, you can change your beliefs, and as a result change your life! Focus on all of the positive things in your life and dream big because the possibilities are limitless!
So I challenge you to begin starting your day with an elevated emotion such as gratitude, joy, love, or peace. This will immediately elevate your energy and be an amazing start to your day. When you wake up in the morning think of a few things you are grateful for or you can journal them. Gratitude is a great way to put things into perspective and remind you of what is really important in life. Try to avoid immediately looking at your phone. If you are able, keep your phone in airplane mode until you leave for work. You can also try meditating on things you love or what makes you happy. Focusing on these elevated emotions will raise your energy and set you up to have a fantastic day! These are just a few examples of how you can elevate your energy and your mood, there are many more.
Moreover, focusing on being in the “sweet spot” of the present moment is key. It is that blissful place where you can just be. You are not worrying about the past or thinking about the future. Through my experience I have learned you must be happy where you are to be able to get to where you want to go. I know it can sometimes be difficult but always look for the good in every situation. I am a firm believer that everything in life happens for a reason. Everything we experience in life is meant to teach us something so we can evolve spiritually, emotionally, and physically. It’s all about perspective. It takes practice, but when you can become aware of how you feel about a situation rather than immediately reacting. This can transform what you may have viewed as a negative experience into a positive one. Take COVID-19 for example, not to make light of the situation but many positives have occurred. Some people have dedicated more time for themselves, are experiencing less stress, are cooking more, doing projects they have not had time to do, getting outside more, and spending more time with their family.
I will leave you with a quote from Albert Einstein, “There are only two ways to live your life… One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” Live each day as though it is a miracle! Enjoy where you are and have fun. Life is about the joy in the journey not the destination.
