Celebrate 30th Anniversary of Women’s Business Ownership Act

The 30th anniversary of the Women’s Business Ownership Act – HR-5050 and the successes that women-owned business have enjoyed since it was implemented will be celebrated with two special events on October 25 at Bechtler Museum of Art, in Charlotte. Female women business owners that are Bank of America customers will tell their access-to-capital success stories during a Power Players panel discussion from 5 to 6:30 p.m. followed by a gathering of area women’s business organizations to network and share resources in Success in the Queen City from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The law, signed by President Ronald Reagan on October 25, 1988, removed the requirement of women needing a male to co-sign loans; created the National Women Business Council (NWBC), and required the U.S. Census to include C Corporations in their business surveys.
