Sarafina is the founder and visionary of “Hey Beautiful Soul” and “Sit With Sarafina”. With over 600,000 followers across her social media platforms nationally and internationally, her artistic expressions are a harmonious blend of music, meditation, affirmation poetry, and sound therapy. Known also as “The Vocal Sound Bath”, Sarafina’s voice brings tranquility, relaxation, and inner peace to the soul. Her latest album “A Piece of Peace” is available on all digital platforms, with her single Love & Harmony garnering over 30 million views.

Natural Awakenings caught up with Sarafina in Charlotte, North Carolina where she currently resides. 

NA: Sarafina, can you tell us how you got into sound therapy?

S: I have traveled and toured across the world for many years with music, and I realized the power within it. During my travels, I noticed how distracted and busy-minded people often were. It was during this time that I felt a deep calling to create therapeutic music that would transcend all linguistic barriers, and unite people through the power of sound, frequency, and vibration. 

I rarely use words with my melodies because music is a universal language that moves, inspires, and touches us all. I intuitively sing songs from the heart that resonate beyond the limitations of language. 


NA: Can you explain what a Vocal Sound Bath is, how it works and the benefits?

S: It is a meditative and therapeutic experience that involves listening to the soothing sounds and vibrations of voice melodies and instruments. My vocal sound baths gently guide people into a state of relaxation and calm through the power of sound, vibration, and frequency.

I encourage everyone to find a comfortable position. While some may prefer to be seated, I suggest they lie down as it permits them to fully immerse into the experience, allowing their entire body to relax. I then introduce breathing techniques designed to promote calmness… drawing the listener's attention and focus inward. As I speak affirmations, I invite them to recite within their mind and affirm what is being said. As the session progresses, I introduce instruments (crystal singing bowls, rain sticks, tuning forks, chimes, gongs, and drums) along with my singing voice, which then guides them into a state of relaxation using soothing melodies and sounds.

Sound therapy is relaxing, but can also provide enhanced focus and clarity, boost energy levels, provide relief from stress and anxiety, improve sleep quality and help clear energetic blockages in the body. Science has shown that when we are in a state of relaxation and harmonious resonance with sound, the body's natural response is to release tension. Sound therapy facilitates a reduction in heart rate and lower blood pressure, contributing to an overall sense of well-being and peacefulness.


NA: What should one expect during/after a Vocal Sound Bath?

S: After a session, you may feel rejuvenated and full of energy, or you may feel very relaxed and ready for bed depending on the intention of the session. Some participants even find themselves moved to tears due to the profound sense of relief they encounter. The vibrational effects of the vocal sound bath experience can last for hours so it is suggested for listeners to be mindful of their surroundings once they depart. It is best to minimize exposure to crowds or busy environments immediately after the vocal sound bath.


NA: What is your intent for those listening to your Vocal Sound Bath?

S: My intention is to create an environment that promotes relaxation, the release of tension, and a gentle reminder to focus on the act of breathing. In such a busy world filled with constant demands and distractions, it is easy to forget to slow down, pause, and simply be present. During my vocal sound baths, participants have the chance to fully immerse themselves in the moment, allowing all anxieties, stresses, worries, and fears to slip away. 

Within this sacred and nurturing space, participants can relax, cultivate clarity, and experience healing. It is my hope that the vocal sound bath experience serves as a haven for peace, rejuvenation, and relief from the stresses of everyday life.


NA: You have a large following both nationally and internationally. How do you keep your online community inspired?

S: In addition to my music, I also share words of encouragement- messages that we all need to hear at times. I have established an online sacred space where individuals from all walks of life can gather, find peace, and be reminded that they are not alone. This space invites you to slow down and reminds you to just breathe and be.

I also have a series named after my album “A Piece of Peace”, and every Monday I share a video of me singing to calming sounds to help us all start the week with intention and a clear mind.  In essence, this sacred space has evolved into a community of beautiful souls united by the shared experience of finding peace and connection through the harmonious blend of music, empowering words, and being present.


NA: Do you have any upcoming events or tours you can share with readers?

S: This year I’m looking forward to my tour beginning this spring and hosting more events in Charlotte. My tour will feature a Vocal Sound Bath, my affirmation poetry, unreleased music, and more.
