April 22, 2020 is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. As stewards of our earth, we hope to do everything we can to create a sustainable, healthy and prosperous future for generations to come.
Join CCSA for an empowering presentation and discussion on how we can make a difference. An interactive presentation and dialogue with Mecklenburg-area residents on how to Recycle Right. The residential curbside recycling guidelines may vary in nearby counties but are most likely similar. Please watch the 4-minute video at the bottom of this page in advance to see close-ups of the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) sorting operations. https://www.mecknc.gov/LUESA/SolidWaste/Resources/Pages/MRF.asp
The program is about 40 minutes, but typically requires an extra 15 minutes for questions. The program includes:
1. An overview of the residential curbside recycling process in Meck county.
2. Challenges and costs of improper recycling. How residents can help!
3. What is and is not recyclable.
4. Interactive/fun game to solidify learning and clarify common misinformation.
5. Ample time for audience questions and dialogue.
The 7pm presentation is appropriate for adults and teens and will be given by Meck County Residential Recycling Educator, Maitri Meyer. She has been a sustainability enthusiast for over 20 years and has a strong passion to educate others on reduced consumption and renewable energy.
