Virtual Earth Day to be held by local Charlotte climate organizations

Charlotte Youth Activists host Earth Day events

CHARLOTTE, NC - From April 22nd to April 25th the climate coalitions of Charlotte will be hosting virtual events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. Each day will have a theme behind it, with everything from striking to educating.

April 22nd’s theme is to strike. On this day the climate coalitions, along with other allies will be coming together virtually to discuss the history of the climate movement as well as how anyone can get involved in the movement. 

April 23rd’s theme is to divest. On this day the coalition is educating followers and friends about what groups in Charlotte and beyond regularly take money from fossil fuel companies and have fought against the change to renewable energies. 

April 24th’s theme is to vote. On this day the coalition will be be hosting a panel to discuss environmental justice and racism in Charlotte and how to integrate the climate movement.

Finally, April 25th’s theme is to educate. On this day a progressive group training will be hosted online for all activist groups in Charlotte.
