Most parents in Charlotte don't know that school scoliosis screenings were discontinued in most NC and SC schools years ago.

The annual nurse's office check that used to catch spinal curves during childhood and early adolescence — the exact window when intervention matters most — is largely gone.

On Thursday, June 25 from 3:30 to 6:00 PM, Clear Life Scoliosis and Chiropractic Center is hosting a free community scoliosis screening event at our Charlotte clinic. Dr. Justin M. Dick, DC will personally conduct each screening using the Adam's forward bend test and clinical postural assessment. No appointment is needed. Space is limited and walk-ins are welcome.

Who should attend: Children and adolescents ages 8–18, especially those entering or completing a growth phase. Adults who were told they had scoliosis as a child and have never followed up. Parents who noticed uneven shoulders, a visible rib prominence, or posture that never looks quite level. Anyone who wants a baseline structural assessment before the school year starts What to expect: Each screening takes approximately 5–10 minutes.

Dr. Dick will assess posture, trunk rotation, shoulder and hip level, and overall spinal alignment. Families will leave with a clear understanding of whether further evaluation is warranted and what the recommended next steps are.
