Herbal Medicine Complements Acupuncture at Two Trees in Plaza Midwood
by Jay Workman
Two Trees Acupuncture, founded in 2015, provides time-tested natural medicine to the Charlotte community. In addition to acupuncture, they offer comprehensive herbal medicine, herbal balms, soaks and other products. A unique specialty is Maya Arvigo Abdominal Massage, a natural bodywork therapy designed to harmonize the reproductive and digestive systems with a particular affinity for women’s health concerns.
The staff includes Paula Kearney LAc, MSOM, David Bonilla LAc, MSAC, and front desk coordinator, Rachel. Kearney and Bonilla are licensed acupuncturists in the state of North Carolina, with master’s degrees in Oriental medicine and acupuncture, respectively, from Southwest Acupuncture College. Bonilla is also a certified massage therapist who attended the Boulder College of Massage Therapy, regarded as one of the top massage schools.
Kearney and Bonilla say, “We are different in that we offer an affordable option for those without insurance called community acupuncture, which we offer on a sliding scale so that everyone can get acupuncture. We also specialize in individually tailored medicinal blends designed to avoid the chance of side effects. We take excellent care to ensure that all herbs we offer are tested for things like pesticides and herbicides, because it is important to know what is in your herbal medicine.” The two main foci of our clinic are acupuncture and herbal medicine for women’s health, internal diseases and painful conditions.”
Two Trees Acupuncture won a Charlotte BOB (Best of the Best) Award, and recently expanded the size of the clinic to accommodate more patients and services. “Hands-down, it is our patients and the positive relationships we have developed with them,” Kearney advises about their success. “Without them, we could not practice, learn and grow.” They are going to be offering yoga, yoni steams, and medicinal herbal foot soaks in the summer season.
