Natural Awakenings Charlotte

New Evening Service for Unity Spiritual Center

“We want you to sleep in on Sunday mornings,” says Reverend Jim Fuller of Unity Spiritual Center (USC) of Charlotte, “and then join us at 5:30 p.m. for our new evening service. We see this as a great way to connect with people who want their Sunday mornings for rest or family but still want to be part of a spiritual community.”

Along with replacing the morning service, the center will offer free Sunday evening programs at 7 p.m., including introductions to Metaphysics and Unity (Sept. 9) and A Course in Miracles (Sept. 16).

Reverends Jim and Kay Fuller graduated from All Faiths Seminary International of New York which was founded by a rabbi, a swami, and two ministers—stepping beyond the boundaries that typically divide faith traditions—and describe themselves as spiritual, but not religious as the center captures this mix of religions and traditions. Rev. Jim, a non-denominational Unity minister, is a long-time student of A Course in Miracles and Eastern teachings and practices.

Unity Spiritual Center of Charlotte started two years ago in the Fuller’s living room with meditation and study groups and then at several other locations until finding its present home in the Milford Chapel at Park Road Baptist Church. The church also houses Mecklenburg Ministries, Charlotte’s interfaith organization, and other spiritual and service organizations. For the past year, the center has offered a Sunday morning service, Monday evening Course in Miracles study group and Tuesday evening meditation.

Future programs will use prayer and meditation to promote healing and well-being (Unity was founded around the practice of healing prayer) and utilizing spiritual practices to improve all aspects of life.
