Amber Pederson, DC, CFMP, owner of the Healing Platform, in Belmont, North Carolina, will host two free webinars at 6 p.m. on May 18 and June 8 to help participants prepare their bodies to experience proper healing and a stronger immune system. Expert advice will be provided in how to take control of one’s nervous system, create resilience to stress, transform one’s state from being stressed to calm and strategies to shift one’s body into a state in which it can heal.

“When you’re in a parasympathetic state, you’re often calm, relaxed and happy,” she says. “This is the state in which your body is able to heal. If you are in a state of stress or fear, you’ll never be able to completely heal. You may be doing a lot to strengthen your immune system, but to make your efforts as effective as possible, getting your body to a parasympathetic state is necessary.

“Where you send blood flow is where you send function. Therefore, we want to shift blood flow away from the amygdala (the limbic brain that governs stress responses to emotions like worry, fear and anxiety) to the pre-frontal cortex. Activation of the pre-frontal cortex allows us to elevate our awareness, consciousness and think for ourselves. We can shift blood flow to our pre-frontal cortex by stimulating our parasympathetic nervous system.”
