Natural Awakenings Charlotte

Charlotte Area Kempter Holistic Dentistry Now Offers Myofunctional Therapy

Kempter Holistic Dentistry, with offices in both Charlotte and Concord, now provide myofunctional therapy. It is non-invasive and is like an exercise training program or physical therapy for the muscles around the face, mouth and tongue. The new service, of which two of their hygienists are specialized in, is designed to improve issues with talking, eating and breathing.

The benefits of myofunctional therapy include modifying behaviors that are causing larger health issues; improving overall facial muscle tone; correcting tongue posture; decreasing muscular tension; establishing a lip seal and nasal breathing pattern; opening airways and helping with sleep apnea; helping relieve TMJD symptoms; encouraging proper skeletal growth in children; and reducing likelihood of relapse after braces.

The modality can benefit people of all ages. It has shown that it can relieve the suffering that comes from sleep apneabruxismTMJ and many other conditions.
