Lake Norman's Melissa Lynch On The Nature of EBOO Therapy

EBOO therapy (Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation)—sometimes called “ozone dialysis”—is an advanced medical treatment used in some integrative and functional medicine clinics to help improve circulation, detoxification and immune function. Because EBOO processes much larger volumes of blood, combines ozone therapy and dialysis filtrationand often runs 30 to 60 minutes continuously, it’s considered one of the most intensive ozone-based therapies available.
Providing intensive blood filtration and detoxification, EBOO uses a dialysis-like filter that can remove inflammatory cytokines, microclots and fibrin, environmental toxins, heavy metals and metabolic waste.
Because the blood is processed continuously during the session, proponents believe it can clear larger volumes of blood than traditional ozone IV therapies.
The therapy introduces oxygen and ozone into circulating blood, which may improve oxygen utilization in tissues, support mitochondrial function and enhance cellular energy production. It can help treat fatigue, chronic illness, recovery support and be part of a preventive/wellness protocol.
Ozone exposure in controlled medical doses can stimulate immune signaling. Reported effects include increased antioxidant enzyme activity, support for innate immune responses and reduction in chronic inflammation.
Clinics sometimes use it to treat chronic infections (mold-related illness, chronic sinus or systemic infections), Lyme disease, long-Covid and autoimmune diseases.
Some practitioners believe EBOO helps break down microclots and improve blood rheology (flow characteristics). Better circulation may help deliver oxygen and nutrients to tissues more effectively, aiding conditions like peripheral vascular disease, poor circulation, chronic fatigue due to poor oxygen delivery and metabolic syndrome.
Ozone is a powerful oxidizing agent and has known antimicrobial properties. In theory, this may help reduce bacterial loads, viral particles and fungal organisms.
Ozone therapy is widely practiced in some European countries; however, it’s still an area of ongoing research and debate in the U.S. As with all ozone therapy, EBOO should only be performed by trained medical professionals using approved medical ozone systems. Experience with EBOO is particularly important to make sure there’s a gradual introduction as the intense nature of the ozone can result in sickness if not done properly.
