Valerie Gackiere is the founder of ekologicall, Charlotte's zero-waste and refill shop. Originally from the countryside of Normandy, France, she spent much of her childhood with her grandparents, who were farmers. From them she learned a simple value that continues to guide her today: nothing should go to waste. 

After building a corporate career in France and the United States, Valerie left that path to build something that felt true to who she was. In 2019, she founded ekologicall to make sustainable, low-waste living more accessible to the Charlotte community. 

Her commitment is also deeply personal. After losing her grandmother to breast cancer and seeing other family members affected by cancer, Valerie became increasingly mindful of the impact everyday chemicals can have on our health. 

Through ekologicall, she aims to empower people to adopt healthier habits through simple product swaps that reduce waste, limit chemical exposure, and live a little lighter for themselves, their families, and the planet.
