Claudia Ricciardone’s eco-focused design journey began while she was pregnant with her daughter and searching for an organic mattress. During that process, she discovered that home furnishings and décor are among the largest contributors to indoor pollution and that many commonly used materials contain chemicals known to act as endocrine disruptors. That realization changed the way she thought about the spaces people live in every day. 

When she and her family later built their custom home, she carefully selected every finish, material and piece of décor with health and sustainability in mind, prioritizing low-toxicity, natural and responsibly sourced options whenever possible. The experience demonstrated that beautiful design and healthy living can absolutely coexist. 

After seeing the home and hearing about the thoughtful choices behind it, friends and acquaintances began asking for help designing their own spaces. What began as a personal commitment to creating a healthier home for her family naturally grew into a passion for eco-conscious design and the launch of Claudia Josephine Design.
