Natural Awakenings Charlotte

Chernikoff to Appear at Meditation Community of Charlotte

David Chernikoff, M.Div, LCSW, will give a free presentation from 7 to 9 p.m. on April 26 and lead a day-long meditation and teaching session from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 27, at Insight Meditation Community of Charlotte at the Park Road Baptist Church’s Milford Chapel, in Charlotte. The events will aid those interested in understanding the joys and challenges of compassionate action.

Attendees will learn how the path of service plays a central role in all of the great wisdom traditions. When we quiet our minds and open our hearts, we recognize the interdependent web that connects all living beings to one another and to the Earth. By attuning to inner guidance, we sense the ways in which life calls us to contribute to the well-being of the whole.

Chernikoff, who has been a student of meditation since 1971, has been teaching Insight Meditation since 1988, and has been influenced by senior teachers from the Insight Meditation Society and Spirit Rock, Tibetan teachers he studied with during three years in Nepal, and spiritual guides from other contemplative traditions, especially Ram Dass, Father Thomas Keating and Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi. He currently has a private practice as a spiritual counselor and life coach in Boulder, Colorado and teaches workshops and retreats throughout the U.S.

Cost for meditation/teaching: $35; scholarships are available. Donations encouraged for both events. Location: 3900 Park Rd. For more information or to register for meditation/teaching, email [email protected]. Also visit DavidChernikoff.com.
