Natural Awakenings Charlotte

Bloom Performance Arts Event Returns

The seventh edition of Bloom: Return to Roots, featuring more than 100 separate performance acts including modern, contemporary, belly dance, burlesque and other dancing styles along with fire performances and aerial and other circus acts, will be held from 6:30 to 11 p.m. for adults only on July 26 and from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. for families and 7 to 11 p.m. for adults only on July 27 at the Ampitheater at the Station House. Performers, most of them local along with some from around the country, will also conduct three workshops.

Presented by Satarah Productions, the show, which has become a staple on the Charlotte arts scene, will celebrate the diversity of Charlotte’s artists, past, present and future. There’ll also be vendors selling their wares plus Nourish Charlotte providing delicious, vegan fare during the evenings.

As a safe space for artists to share themselves and their journeys, many professional performers will bring choreographies to the stage for the first time, feeling comfortable enough to share those incredibly intimate moments.

During adults-only sessions, along with burlesque performances, organizers relate that people have told stories of healing from trauma and there may be profanity in some of the chosen music.
