90% Save Rate in 2020 is Within Reach

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Animal Care & Control (AC&C) is conducting an adoption campaign with the goal of a 90 percent save rate for the year. For the entire month of December, adoptions fees will be waived in favor of a financial donation to support any of our shelter programs.

Director Dr. Josh Fisher says, “Since 2015, we have increased our save rate from 63 percent to almost 90 percent, and it has truly taken a village.” One hundred percent is not practical because 10 percent is factored in for animals that have severe behavior issues that make them a risk to the public to place them for adoption or animals that are so sick that humane euthanasia is the best option for them.
